🔥Santa Rosa is in for a musical treat on Monday Sept 16th🔥
A night of experimental improvised music, with two sets performed by 5 wildly explorative musicians.
Zachary James Watkins + Lori Goldston
Strings laid sideways and again sideways form a heavy frequency generator of processed cello and guitar, but the exceptional factor is less the generator than the twin receivers driving them: Lori Goldston (Earth, Nirvana) and Zachary James Watkins (Foreign/Domestic, Black Spirituals) distill the consciousness-infinity nexus through somatic-magnetic flumes that gather and deepen until finally spilling from loudspeakers. You’ll find your own infinite sluice gushing when their entangled improvisations sink your ears, pulling you in under and through, back from murky top.
Fred Frith + Jordan Glenn + Jason Hoopes
Performing widely internationally over the last 10+ years as Fred Frith Trio, these artists have been described as “three extravagantly creative musicians employed in making music like we’ve never heard before”. DownBeat magazine described “a scrappy improvising trio who deftly revisit many of Frith’s musical endeavors in a gritty, unified attack.” Musician and educator Kevin Coultas wrote that the trio is one of Frith’s “most superlative” bands since Henry Cow. They have performed together broadly across Europe, the US, in Sao Paulo, Brazil, and have released 3 albums on the Intakt label, one including live performances with improvising masters Lotte Anker (saxophone) and @susanasantosilva (trumpet).
Don’t miss this special evening of adventurous sound performed by 5 adventurous musicians steeped in their craft!
