On December 14th the Arlene Francis Center prescreened Half-Life Documentary and raised $1,500 towards funding the sound track.

Kirk Keeler was recently diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer. Through the trials & tribulations of living with this disease, he was inspired to rock climb a route up Half Dome in Yosemite to help bring awareness to cancer screening. With two years of training, amongst chemo treatments and trying alt treatments like RSO, the climb was accomplished on August 3, 2024. Kirk Climbed Snake Dike, 5,000 feet above Yosemite Valley with a film crew! Half-Life, a documentary by Kaare Iverson, was accepted to be shown at the Wild and Scenic Film Festival in Nevada City in February. We raised $1,500 to help with the costs of the soundtrack, but, we are not done yet. We need your help. Scan the QR code to help us reach our goal. The money we raise will pay for editing time and admission costs for other Film Festivals.

“Kirk’s goal, ultimately, is to climb Half Dome with Kevin, but more get the word out about how critical pre-screening is to discovering if you have colon cancer or not,” said Jen Miramontes of Cancer Champions in Kirk’s Documentary. “It’s really loud and clear to me that I don’t want people to go through what I’ve had to go through,” Keeler adds at the end of the short film trailer. “It’s not just a climb that I want to do and accomplish. I want it to be for something bigger.”
