We are very interested in working with people in the community. By combining all our shared talents and years of lived experience, we can build a stronger community that truly meets the needs of those around us. The Arlene Francis Center Time Bank is a tool to organize our skills, list needs and track of the hours people served. What are some of your skills? Some of our needs could range from gardening to street team. Got time to help set up for a movie? Fix a door knob? Paint? Give us an hour of your time and someone else will give you an hour of their time.
Time banking is a system of bartering various services for one another using time as the currency. time units can be credited to a person’s account in the time bank and redeemed for services from other members of the time bank. Time banking can be considered a form of community currency. Similar to the way you would support a local business over a big box franchise or tokens for the farmers market. Simply put, a time bank is a community of people who share their skills and talents with others. In exchange for their time, they get credit to use for help they need in their life.
