With the way things are going here in California; and all over the country, it’s more important than ever to come together and support one another. Raising housing prices, gasoline, food… not to mention the huge cut in health care services and supportive services for people in need. It is up to us in the community to come together and support each other. The Arlene Francis Center for Spirit, Art and Politics has created a time bank.

What is a Time Bank?

Time banking is a system of bartering various services for one another using time as the currency. time units can be credited to a person’s account in the time bank and redeemed for services from other members of the time bank. Time banking can be considered a form of community currency. Similar to the way you would support a local business over a big box franchise or tokens for the farmers market. Simply put, a time bank is a community of people who share their skills and talents with others. In exchange for their time, they get credit to use for help they need in their life.
