greencounter cooperative is a cooperative accounting and consulting group that seeks to bring an awareness of ecological sustainability and social justice to the financial operation of non-profits and small companies. social change groups have often found their ideals unnecessarily compromised by their approach to finances, utilizing methods of financial management and accounting that fail to take account of their own values-based objectives. greencounter will provide financial services to just such groups, assisting them in incorporating a “triple bottom line” evaluation of their everyday financial practices, meaning an approach that links economic concerns with those of achieving equality in the workplace and environmental health for the planet. in addition to its values-based approach, greencounter will offer a flexible range of accounting, tax, and quickbooks services that are practical for non-profits, small companies, and start-ups and that address the insecurity that many social idealists feel about financial matters. in addition to assisting outside clients and offering classes for like-minded groups, greencounter will oversee the financial, record-keeping, and management practices of the center for spirit, art, and politics as well.
